Kathy and Bill Friend have been foster parents with The Children’s Shelter since 1997. They primarily foster infants, and unfortunately in many cases that includes infants born with controlled substances in their system, causing physical and cognitive delays and requiring extra support and specialized care. The Friend family understands that providing exceptional care requires working with others in the best interest of the child. As a model foster family, they serve as mentors for newly-licensed foster parents, sharing their experiences and providing support when needed. They also work collaboratively with case workers, Child Protective Services, and when possible, the child’s biological family; ensuring the child’s needs are always the priority.
