2016 Leadership Societies

This listing reflects donors to the 2015 campaign.

The individuals listed in this booklet are leaders in philanthropy whose wholehearted generosity supports the health and human services needs of San Antonio and Bexar County.

The vanguard of the United Way Leadership Societies is the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, members of which annually contribute gifts of $10,000 or more.

Other premier donor groups include the Briscoe Society – established in tribute to the magnanimous compassion of former Governor Dolph Briscoe Jr. and his beloved wife, Janey, and honor those community leaders giving at the $5,000 level; the Bejar Society, wherein members invest a minimum of $2,500 each year in United Way’s stellar network of programs; and the Tejas Society, that gratefully acknowledges those making vitally important gifts starting at $1,000.

Finally, serving as fertile ground from which all ascending United Way leadership societies bloom, the Alamo Society recognizes contributors who make gifts from $500 to $999.

Alamo, Tejas, Bejar, Briscoe and Alexis de Tocqueville Society donors enjoy the option of dual membership in the Women’s Leadership Council, an initiative launched in the fall of 1999, that involves women in the promotion and strengthening of United Way’s programs – and the lives they change – throughout the community.

Founded in 2014, young donors and volunteers may participate in the Emerging Leaders Council comprised of up-and-coming, dynamic people who are passionate about strengthening our community through their strong philanthropic values and active leadership.
