In May of 2014, the Emerging Leaders Council was only a concept with 21 corporate volunteers determined to create a giving society that would appeal to the younger generations.

For the first year, this group learned more about United Way, our partner agencies and the various programs funded by campaign contributions.

During this time, these individuals developed a mission, vision and structure for what is ELCUWSA as we know it today.

In June of 2015, we introduced ELC as the newest way to get involved with UWSA, specifically targeting new donors in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Our goal was to reach a membership of 400.

Today, ELC is 2,589 members strong. Over 1,000 are new donors to our United Way.

June 2016 may bring an end to our “original crew of 21,” but it is only the beginning for #ELCUWSA!

Together, we will continue to EMERGE UNITED.
