Hello!
People can change. Sometimes, though, they can't do it on their own. Bexar County Detention Ministries was just the help and support Roger needed.
On his 40th birthday,
Roger was pulled over and arrested for driving while intoxicated. It
was his third DWI, and he was sentenced to four years in prison. He was
paroled with the condition that he attend meetings for alcoholism. Turning
to Bexar County Detention Ministries, he participated in the 12-step meetings
that helped him regain his confidence and self-esteem.
Roger has continued to make the daily choice to be alcohol free. If he isn't working late, he attends the Thursday meetings, even though his parole ended over three years ago. He has remarried, and both of his children from his first marriage now live with him. An active member of his church, Roger volunteers with Bexar County Detention Ministries and has started his own carpentry business.
"People who want to change need a solid foundation mentally and spiritually, like a house needs a strong foundation," he said of the help he received from Bexar County Detention Ministries.
