Why should I donate to the Women's Leadership Council (WLC)?
By becoming a Women’s Leadership Council member, you will join over 1,400 other Bexar County women in supporting issues that have significant relevance to female donors. You’ll have the option to increase the impact of your philanthropic dollars by joining other members in supporting the three WLC focus areas. You’ll also be invited to attend informative events and luncheons addressing issues that impact women and children in our community.
 
What are the targeted Focus Areas of the WLC?
Helping Young Children have a great start supports successful programs working with families, caregivers and childcare centers to ensure that young children are ready to thrive in school when they enter kindergarten.

Ensuring Children Become Successful Students through greater family involvement in children’s learning and educational futures. Parents and school administrators work in partnership in 10 schools to close the achievement gap and to rebuild a path for all students which leads to a high school graduate that is prepared to succeed in life.

Women Helping Women Build Financial Stability by linking families to asset building programs and services that enable parents to provide for the long-term well being and financial stability of their families.
 
My spouse and I both contribute to United Way through our companies. Will the amount of our combined gifts be recognized in the Leadership Societies listings in the Untied Way book?
Yes. Your combined gift will be acknowledged in the United Way listing. In the WLC roster, only the female’s gift of $1,000 or more will be listed.
 
Can I still be a WLC member even if I choose not to direct my gift to one of the WLC Focus Areas?
Yes. Your gift of $1,000 or more is eligible for membership in the WLC regardless of whether you designate to WLC or a specific United Way agency.
 
WLC Next Generation
WLCNext Generation is a new initiative of the Women’s Leadership Council. The Women’s Leadership Council is committed to preparing young women by mentoring and guiding them to a life of philanthropy and leadership. Young women over the age of 25 are invited to join WLC members in programs designed to positively impact our local community.

Membership begins at $500 level with a three-year commitment to step up to the $1,000 membership required for WLC.
 
Women's Legacy and Women's Leadership Council Endowment
The Women’s Legacy, and initiative of the WLC was launched in 2004. Donors raised over $500,000 to match gifts directed to the three WLC Focus Areas. The Women’s Leadership Council was able to leverage over $1 million towards the WLC focus areas, changing the lives of countless women and children.
