Volunteer Center
Twenty years ago, members of United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s Board of Trustees voted to incorporate the local Volunteer Center into the United Way organization as United Way established a new mission to increase the capacity of people in San Antonio to care for one another.
In the past twenty years, the Volunteer Center at United Way has:
- Matched hundreds of thousands of local citizens who want to volunteer with nonprofit organization who need their help.
- Assisted agencies with volunteer management (SAVA) training to retain strong volunteers. See SAVA
- Collaborated with corporate volunteer programs to strengthen their volunteer efforts. See CVC
- Celebrated and honored volunteers through the annual Volunteer of the Year Awards dinner. See VOYA
- Founded the annual Days of Caring (1992) that brings employees and volunteers to local agenices to help change lives. See DOC
- Partnered with major community volunteer programs* and worked with local disaster relief efforts.
