Making Tax Time Pay for Working Families

This year Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is worth more than ever....up to $4,716 for some families.

The EITC is a special tax benefit for single or married working individuals and families who work part-time and full-time earning less than $37,783.
Find Out Who's Eligible

Each year, businesses, employers, community organizations, government agencies, and a host of others find effective ways to incorporate EITC outreach activities into their routine operations. Most EITC outreach campaign partners are not tax experts and have no specialized tax knowledge – but they successfully alert families and individuals about this critical tax benefit and direct them to free tax filing assistance.

Many employers attach pay stub inserts to employee W-2's or monthly pay stubs and posters and flyers for the employee break rooms / customer waiting areas. Flyers, pay-stub inserts, and eligibility information can be accessed through the this Web site - All materials are in both English and Spanish.

Your outreach efforts contribute to thousands of working families and individuals getting a significant boost to their incomes. In 2007, San Antonio working individuals and families received over $52 million dollars in EITC benefits.

Low-income workers earning less than $45,000 can get FREE help with tax preparation through a program called VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). For more information on VITA free tax preparation sites call United Way Help Line @ 2-1-1.
