Calendar of Volunteer Opportunities
This calendar offers volunteer opportunities with specific dates submitted by nonprofit agencies through Volunteer Solutions.  Click here for Volunteer Solutions, a web-based software managed by The Volunteer Center at United Way.  The opportunities listed below are immediate volunteer needs and may or may not have specific dates. 

To list your agency, call the Volunteer Center at United Way at 352-7021, fax to 298-9104, complete the volunteer request from and/or e-mail to shuizar@unitedwaysatx.org.
Christian Senior Services Meals-on-Wheels has an ongoing need for volunteers to deliver meals to homebound elderly. Meals on Wheels will provide a route, meals and containers to hold meals in during delivery. Delivery time frame is 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Volunteers can deliver once a week or twice a month and be able to provide their own transportation and must have a valid drivers and proof of insurance. We urge families to get involved for the summer. JOVEN is requesting volunteer assistance with “Paint Project” a one to two day project consist of scraping off old paint and painting a hallway 20ft. and two small staircases. For further details contact Norma Hayes, Program Manager at (210) 924-0330 or nhayes@jovensatx.org

Catholic Charities will train volunteers willing to conduct workshops for their Health Matters Program, a health education program for people with chronic illnesses. The workshops will be facilitated by two trained leaders, one of whom is a volunteer trained by community health educators form the Texas Diabetes Institute. Volunteers can be lay persons and medical background is not necessary. Training consist of four days from 9:00 am to 4:00 p.m. Contact Rosalie Roberts at (210) 355-9634 or rroberts@ccaosa.org

Any Baby Can is in need of volunteers to assist with childcare during counseling and support groups for families receiving services at the agency. Volunteers needed every Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Wednesdays 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.; 3rd. and last Tuesday of the month from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Training orientations are provided. Volunteer must be good with children, patience and ability to have fun! Agency will conduct a background check and provide a TB test at no cost to all volunteers. Other volunteer opportunities are needed for office help, community outreach, sibling support and Saturday Morning ART. The Rape Crisis Center for Children & Adults has volunteer positions “Hospital Advocates and On-Line Hotline Advocates” Training provided on July 14th and 23rd contact agency for hours. Hospital advocates must have a valid driver’s license and current care insurance. All hotline advocates must do their shifts from the Rape Crisis Center. On Line hotline is available Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Contact Danielle Rominski at (210) 521-7273 Ext. 5735.
