Combat service in Afghanistan and Iraq is
producing critical and unique issues for a new
generation of active-duty Air Force, Army,
Navy, Marines, Reservists, Texas National Guard
members, veterans, and their families.
With an extensive database at their fingertips,
United Way 2-1-1 Military Call Specialists help
military service members and their loved ones
achieve stable and productive lives before,
during and after deployment. |
2-1-1 At a Glance |
• Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week
• Provides referrals for health and human care services for OEF/OIF military members and their families
- continuously updated with new services
- contains federal, state, county, city services
- private, nonprofit and faith-based services
- contains OEF/OIF specific services |

Often the most difficult part of a physical or
emotional set-back – or an unexpected life
event – is knowing who to call. Our United Way
Military Outreach Coordinators are committed
to increasing community awareness of this
important initiative among military families and
the agencies and organizations serving them.
Our Military Outreach Coordinators are available
for informational presentations to community
groups, agencies, faith-based organizations,
military organizations such as the VFW,
American Legion, Marine Corps League, military
retiree organizations.

They help military members and their families:
• navigate the complicated maze of the
human care system
• act as personal advocates to ensure timely
access to services
• follow up with all callers to determine if
services were provided and needs were met |
