Kids Day in the Park offers education and fun for San Antonio families

San Antonio, Texas (April 21, 2012): In celebration of Week of the Young Child, Kids’ Day 2012 will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at San Pedro Springs Park, 1315 San Pedro. This family-friendly event promises to provide fun and educational activities for children ages 10 and under and will be held rain or shine.
Close to 10,000 people are expected to attend this FREE spring event. Parents will have an opportunity to visit numerous informational booths sponsored by accredited schools and child care providers, non-profit organizations, local businesses and City departments.
Kids’ Day activity booths include face painting, sensory stations for infants and numerous arts and crafts areas. Entertainment will include dancers and musicians on stage throughout the day, mascot characters, and demonstrations from local storytellers.
Kids’ Day will feature a recycling program to encourage green living and awareness and will help keep San Pedro Springs Park clean. Families can stop by one of the recycling stations to pick up a recycling bag to fill with recyclables and return it in exchange for a “Go Green” Kids’ Day t-shirt.
Kids’ Day in the Park is presented by United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, KLRN Public Television, San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children, and the City of San Antonio. This event is co-sponsored by: Women’s Leadership Council, San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, and numerous other organizations and individuals who have contributed time and in-kind donations.
